Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects — designed to transform the air travel landscape of Maharashtra and reduce the heavy load on Mumbai’s existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The airport’s terminal is designed with sustainability and efficiency in mind. Some features include:

• Biometric Check-ins
• Smart baggage handling (up to 6,000 bags/hour)
• Dedicated Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCC)
• CAT-III B compliant runways for low-visibility operations
• Cargo terminal to handle over 2.5 million tonnes/year
• A VVIP terminal, general aviation area, and plans for an “Airport City” with hotels, offices, and retail spaces are also part of the development.

🛫 Airlines & Operations
Major Indian carriers like IndiGo and Akasa Air are expected to launch operations from NMIA on day one. Akasa Air has announced plans to operate 15+ daily domestic flights, scaling up to 50 international routes over time.
